Unlock Your Creativity

Creative thinking techniques

The most successful companies are those that encourage creativity and use the ideas generated to keep ahead of the competition. But how do you continue to come up with the ideas that can be developed into successful products, services or processes?

Creative thinking is a skill that can be learnt and improved with practice. This workshop will show you how to unlock your creativity and how to transform ideas into reality. It is designed to teach participants how to generate creative ideas, as a team as well as individually, using a tool-kit of practical creative thinking techniques.

Sometimes our thinking gets stuck and we need to find different ways of getting around a problem or situation. Unlock your thinking with this practical, active and fun workshop.

Course Aims:

Delegates will be able to...

  • apply a range of creative thinking tools to escape from the conventional barriers to analysis and idea generation
  • identify individual and organizational opportunities for creativity
  • be more creative in problem-solving and decision- making roles

Typical Course Agenda:

PMI
A simple and very effective idea generation and decision-making tool that could soon become a daily habit in your team or organization.

Traditional Brainstorming
A proven technique for generating ideas, putting a full range of ideas on the table before decisions are made. Use it to generate a free flow of creative ideas, getting everyone involved and creating lots of energy. It allows people to explore new ideas and challenges traditional thinking. The outcome is a long list of creative ideas from which to work.

The Creative Ideas Gallery
A group activity that randomly brings many creative techniques together to solve a problem or explore a situation. The participants will generate ideas, prioritize them and start action planning. It is an ideal technique where you want input from many participants but also want to have them work in small groups building on each others ideas. The Creative Ideas Gallery is perfect for moving creative ideas into innovative solutions for your organization.

MindShift
A very creative group brainstorming technique that will generate surprising results. We don't tell the participants the process ahead of time, we just do it and let the results speak for themselves. You may have a serious problem to solve but we will have the group in fits of laughter as they generate ideas. The humour and laughter is key to the success of this technique. It is suitable for all levels in your organization, right up to board level.

BrainDumping
BrainDumping is similar to the MindMapping technique popularised by Tony Buzan in his book The Mindmap Book. While BrainDump maps can be used for many purposes they are excellent for stimulating new ideas and connections either working alone or in groups. BrainDumping is one of the simplest, yet most powerful, tools a person can have in their creativity toolbox.

Six Thinking Hats
The Six Thinking Hats method allows us to unbundle our thinking. Instead of trying to do everything at once, we separate out the different aspects of thinking. This way we can pay full attention to each aspect in turn including the 'green hat' of creativity. This is a powerful way of thinking and should be familiar to everyone who has to work with teams or groups.

Please note that this is a typical course outline. Workshops can be tailored to our clients' specific requirements.
